  Excise duty on air tickets

Dhaka : The government has imposed new excise duty on air tickets issued on and after July 14, 2010.
The notice published in the gazette said the travel agents were to collect excise duty from that date at the rate of Tk 300 on domestic air tickets as well as for air tickets for travel to SAARC countries.
The rate of excise duty for countries in Asia other than SAARC countries is Tk 500 while for Europe, USA, Australia and rest of the world is Tk 1000.
The tax code for excise duty will be 'OW.' The new excise duty has been updated in GDS systems on July 14.
