Thai Lion Air to connect Dhaka-Bangkok from Oct 1

DHAKA : Thailand’s budget carrier Thai Lion Air to launch direct flights daily from Dhaka to Bangkok from October 1 and will offer special introductory fares.

The launching of their flight was announced at a function at Lakeshore Hotel on September 22. It was graced by Panpimon Suwannapongse, Ambassador of Thailand to Bangladesh, and was addressed by Philip Wang, Managing Director of Tune Aviation and Mohammad Salauddin Shamim, Director of Tune Aviation, GSA of the airline. Saravanan Ramasamy, Head of Commercial of Thai Lion and Pinruja Yasintorn, Sales Manager of Thai Lion also spoke on the occasion.

Meanwhile Capt. Darsito Hendro Seputro, Chairman of the Board, Thai Lion in a statement said that the Airline is ready to launch its first flight from Bangkok (Don Mueang) to Dhaka on October 1. The flying time between the two capitals would be two and a half hours.

Thai Lion Air is expecting that the new destination to Dhaka will attract tourists, who love unique architecture, traditional food and shopping in this historic city. Simultaneously, tourists from Bangladesh would like to visit Thailand with connecting many more onward destinations.

Thai Lion passengers from Dhaka can avail convenient connecting flights to Guangzhou (China), Jakarta (Indonesia), Taipei (China) and Singapore. It will also connect popular destinations like Phuket and Krabi from Bangkok.

Don Mueang International Airport is one of two international airports serving greater Bangkok, the other one being Suvarnabhumi Airport, also known as Bangkok airport.

The fares from Dhaka to Bangkok round trip starts from BDT 16,099 (all inclusive) with free baggage allowance of 20 kg without booking fee.

Thai Lion Air is one of the low cost carriers, founded in 2013, with 12 domestic flights, two cross region flights and more than 20 international flights.

Currently the airline operates 32 new aircrafts: Boeing 737-900 ER with 215 seats, Boeing 737-800 with 189 seats, Airbus A330-300 with 392 seats and Boeing 737 MAX 9 with 215 seats.
