LA PAZ, Bolivia: A plane carrying 127 people skidded and fell on its side on a runway at an airport in Bolivia after it appeared to collapse onto its landing gear.

A Peruvian Airlines Boeing 737 suffered a collapsed landing gear when it arrived on November 22 at an airport in Bolivia.

The plane was arriving on a flight from Cuzco, Peru, and airport officials say none of the 122 passengers or five crew members was hurt.

Flights were suspended and a crane was brought in to help move the aircraft from the runway after its landing gear was crushed and its tyres burst, prompting a 10-hour closure that delayed several other flights into and out of the El Alto airport near the Bolivian capital.

No issues were reported during the flight and the captain gave no warning as the plane approached the airport, passengers told local media.

The cause of the accident is not yet known and is being investigated, Peruvian Airlines later said in a statement.
