Dhaka: Fight BG 122 of Biman Bangladesh Airlines from Muscat to Chittagong made a safe landing at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in the city on Thursday morning despite burst tires in the wheels in the aircraft’s rear landing gear.
The airline, in a press release, said the control tower of Muscat International Airport had informed the Biman Captain after take-off that torn-off tires were found on the airport runway which could be of the aircraft.
In the interest of the added safety the aircraft landed at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport at 10:07 am. All safety preparations were earlier taken for emergency landing of the aircraft, it said.
The aircraft flew over HSIA runway twice at a low level when it was observed that the number two tire of the left landing gear had been damaged.
There were 149 passengers and seven crew members on board the aircraft. All passengers and crew are safe and in good health, the press release added.
