NHTTI, British Council sign MoU for IELTS skill development

Dhaka: National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (NHTTI) of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with British Council to receive exclusive training for their students to face IELTS with ease.

The MoU signing was held at NHTTI (1st floor) of Hotel Abakash, Mohakhali C/A, Dhaka on January 20, 2019, Sunday at 4:00 PM.

On behalf of British Council and NHTTI, Sebastian Pearce, Director, Examinations and Parvez Ahmed Chowdhury, General Manager and Principal (NHTTI), Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation respectively made the deal.

The ceremony was graced by Special Guest Md. Shahadat Hossain, Director (Administration and Finance), Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation. Also, Begum Sarwat Reza, Head of Business Development (Examinations), British Council was present.

More than 46,000 trainees of NHTTI are currently working in the hospitality and tourism sector all over the world.

In foreign countries, IELTS is prioritised for recruitment purposes. Thus, British Council and NHTTI decided to go for this MoU.

British Council will provide 3 free training sessions exclusively for NHTTI students at the training institute’s campus with a view to making them competent enough to pass IELTS easily.

All the books of NHTTI’s library related to IELTS as well as British Council’s e-library will be available to the students for training purposes.

The students will sit for the IELTS exam as an individual group exclusively.

British Council will establish an IELTS corner in the library of NHTTI through joint branding. Therefore, in the promotional materials, the logos of British Council, NHTTI and Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation can be used jointly.

All of these facilities will be free of cost. The students will only have to pay the registration fee of British Council for IELTS which is 17 thousand taka.

Parvez Ahmed Chowdhury, General Manager and Principal (NHTTI), Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation, said, “NHTTI is an internationally renowned training institute considered a pioneer in hospitality and tourism training in Bangladesh. The signed MoU with British Council will be regarded as a historic achievement for the NHTTI students. To grow themselves as skilled human resources for employment, training and higher studies in abroad, the young generation will be able to become easily successful as NHTTI students, I strongly believe.”
