National Certificate Courses on six tourism, hospitality subjects start at NHTTI

Dhaka: Eighteen-week-long National Certificate Courses on six tourism and hospitality subjects started at National Hotel and Tourism Training Institute (NHTTI) of Bangladesh Parjatan Corporation (BPC) on February 20.

Md Shahidul Alam, Director, Planning BPC was the chief guest at the inaugural ceremony held at the Banquet Hall of Hotel Abakash. Invited guests included Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor, Professor Maruf Ahmed, CEO, The Olives, Fariaz Mohammad Chowdhury, Assistant Director, Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel, Shamim, CEO, Ajyer, Begum Swad Rashid of Amari Group. Parvez Ahmed Chowdhury, Principal, NHTTI presided.

The courses are: Front Office and Secretarial Operations, House Keeping and Laundry, Food and Beverage Production, Food and Beverage Service, Bakery and Pastry Production, and Tour Guiding and Travel Agency Operations.

Sumaiya Noor Mumu, Trainee, NHTTI and her Mentor Zahida Begum, Department Head of Food and Beverage Production, NHTTI were felicitated on the occasion for their success in Young Chef Olympiad 2017, held in New Delhi, Bengaluru and Kolkata.

Team Tigress of Bangladesh stood 19th out of 100 teams participating the Olympiad and Zahida Begum was adjudged the Best Mentor.

NHTTI signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with International Institute of Hotel Management (IIHM) on internship of trainess and exchange of trainers.
