Winners of outstanding performance in 2018 on cargo sales stand on stage

Dhaka: Cathay Dragon and Cathay Pacific Airways Bangladesh held Agent Appreciation Night 2019 at Radisson Blu Dhaka Water Garden hotel on March 7. On the occasion, the airlines presented awards to their agents who made significant contribution in 2018 for passengers and cargo sales.
Mark Sutch, Regional General Manager, South Asia, Middle East and Africa; Rajesh Menon, Regional Cargo Manager, South Asia, Middle East and Africa; Kim Fong, Assistant to Regional General Manager, South Asia, Middle East and Africa graced the ceremony as special guests.
For outstanding performance in 2018 on cargo sales, APS Logistics Int’l Ltd., DSV Air and Sea Ltd., Edison Logistics Ltd., Expo Freight Ltd., Hellmann Worldwide Logistics Ltd., Kuehne + Nagel Ltd. and WAC Logistics Ltd were awarded.
DSV Air and Sea Ltd won the award for contributing with the premium product in 2018.
Next, they presented the awards to their partners for outstanding performance in 2018 on passenger sales. Dynamic Travels, East West Travels and Tours (Pvt) Ltd, Horizon Express Limited, Proma Overseas, Sundarban Tourism Plus, Talon Corporation and Valencia Air Travel and Tours won in this category.
Dynamic Travels received the award for contributing the highest business class revenue growth in 2018. Flyer Travel Express Ltd was awarded for contributing with a significant revenue growth in 2018. Saimon Overseas Ltd was honoured with an award too for their persistent business support with a significant revenue growth in 2018.
Ahmed Reza, Country Manager, Bangladesh and Bhutan, Cathay Pacific Airways, said, “As you know, the airline started its operation in Bangladesh since 1989 as Dragon Air. Then it merged with Cathay Pacific group in 2006. Then, Dragon Air was rebranded as Cathay Dragon at the end of 2016. With your (partners) extended support, our airline has grown in Bangladesh significantly in revenue on both cargo and passengers over the years. Our passenger revenue has grown by 22 percent and cargo by 39 percent in 2018 only.”
Under the Cathay Dragon fleet, they have 48 latest aircrafts including A320, A321, A330s and 32 A321 neos on order.
Currently, Cathay Pacific group services 232 cities across the globe with 23 in Mainland China with a fleet of over 200 aircrafts. Their recent additions to the fleet are A350-1000 and A350-900.
“We have strong connectivity with minimum layovers to USA, Canada, China, Japan, Korea and Australia. With your (partners) extended support, we are holding the major market share with a significant growth for these destinations in Bangladesh market. Along with this large global network, we have also introduced 10 new destinations in 2018 and many more to come in near future. Out of those new destinations, 5 are in Cathay Pacific network – Brussels, Dublin, Cape Town, Washington DC, Seattle (March 31, 2019). The rest 5 – Nanning, Jinan, Medan, Davao and Tokushima are in Cathay Dragon Network,” Ahmed Reza added.
