NOVOAIR Dhaka Travel Mart-2019 kicks off in the city

Dhaka, March 21, 2019: A three-day international tourism fair ‘NOVOAIR Dhaka Travel Mart-2019’ begins at the Ball Room of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Dhaka hotel today. Md Mahbub Ali, State Minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, formally inaugurated the fair this morning.

The Bangladesh Monitor, premier travel trade fortnightly of the country, is organising the fair for the sixteenth time. NOVOAIR, leading private sector airline of the country is the Title Sponsor while, Bangladesh Tourism Board, national carrier Biman Bangladesh Airlines and Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. are supporting the event as the Partners. This year Nepal has joined the tourism fair as the Partner Country.

The inaugural ceremony was addressed among others by Raquib Siddiqi, Chief Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor, Dhan Bahadur Oli, Nepalese Ambassador to Bangladesh, Dr. Bhubon Chandra Biswas, CEO, Bangladesh Tourism Board, Mofizur Rahman, Managing Director, NOVOAIR, Shakil Meraj, General Manager - PR, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, Mohammad Anowar Hossain, Head of Cards, Mutual Trust Bank Ltd. and Diwakar B. Rana, Senior Manager, Nepal Tourism Board.

Raquib Siddiqi in his speech said, “The Bangladesh Monitor since its inception for the last 27 years has been working for the development of the country’s tourism sector. Among many other initiatives, we have been organising Dhaka Travel Mart since 2002. I hope this year’s Dhaka Travel Mart will help expedite further growth in our tourism sector.”

41 organisations from 7 countries including host Bangladesh will display their products and services in 5 pavilions and 70 stalls during the fair. National Tourism Organisations of Bangladesh, Nepal, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia are participating in this year’s travel mart. Other participants include airlines, tour operators, hotels, resorts, online booking portals and healthcare service providers among others.

Participating organisations are offering attractive discounts for visitors on their products and services including domestic and international air tickets, holiday packages for home and abroad. NOVOAIR offers 15 per cent discount on airfare for travel to any destination of their network. Biman offers up to 25 per cent discount on select international destinations, Regent Airways offers 12 per cent discount on economy class airfare to all their destinations, while US-Bangla Airlines offers 10 per cent discount on their domestic airfares and up to 20 per cent on select international destinations.

One can visit NOVOAIR Dhaka Travel Mart-2019 on payment of BDT30 as entry fee, from 10 am to 8 pm every day, from March 21-23.

A grand raffle draw on entry coupons will be organised on March 23, the final day, at 7:30 pm. Raffle prizes will include air tickets to various local and foreign destinations, holiday packages for home and abroad, accommodation in luxury hotels, and lunch and dinner coupons among others.
