Ten ICT talents adjudged Seeds for the Future 2019

Dhaka: Huawei, the leading ICT solutions provider, announced the ten winners of Seeds for the Future 2019, global flagship CSR programme of the company, at a gala ceremony, held at Amari Dhaka hotel today, April 3.

Mustafa Jabbar, Minister for Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology, attended the event as Chief Guest while Li Guangjun, Economic and Commercial Counsellor, Embassy of China in Bangladesh, was the Special Guest.

“Such an initiative will help the young talents to have a clear concept on ICT advancement and to contribute to our country. Bangladesh is going to become a complete digital country by 2021,” said Mustafa Jabbar. “We are expecting Huawei to help us implement the "Vision 2021" with their technology. We are not far behind to bring 5G to Bangladesh and aim to get it within 2021 to 2023.”

“This global program focuses solely on the development of young ICT talents through world-class ICT technologies. I believe that, at the end of this program, students will enhance their ability to adapt to the ICT industry and gain more exposure and understanding of the latest technologies. Huawei will always keep contributing to the ICT and telecom sectors of Bangladesh,” said Zhang Zhengjun, CEO, Huawei Technologies (Bangladesh) Limited.

“Huawei will continue to support ‘Digital Bangladesh 2021’ by acting as the best partner in building ICT infrastructure in Bangladesh, more importantly providing a platform to develop more and more ICT talents in the country.”

Li Guangjun in his speech said, “I wish to extend my deep appreciation to Huawei for creating such a platform to further develop the capabilities of young graduates across the globe.”

Winners of Seeds for the Future 2019 are Tasfia Zahin and Sarkar Snigdho Sarathi Das from Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology, Mayeesha Farzana and Koushik Kumar from University of Dhaka, Tasfia Seuti and Minhaz Bin Farukee from Rajshahi University of Engineering and Technology, Atia Islam Ankhi and Jahedul Islam from Khulna University of Engineering and Technology, Monisha Dey and Kamrul Hasan from Chittagong University of Engineering and Technology.

Seeds for the Future 2019 Bangladesh ran its selection round for over one and a half months, starting from February. The selection round reached to five universities. Total 600 students took part in the programme.

The winners will depart Bangladesh by the end of April for hands-on learning experience in Beijing and Shenzhen at Huawei headquarters.
