Diabetes fair concludes on April 13

Dhaka: A three day Diabetes fair was organised in Bangladesh for the first time to prevent diabetes and empower diabetes patients by teaching them how to control it. The fair was organised by Congressia and took place at Krishibid Institute Bangladesh, Dhaka from April 11-13.

The fair turned out to be both festive and educational. Expert doctors of the country demonstrated every detail of diabetes and the diseases it causes through exceptional and comprehensive sessions.

Discounts on medical equipment such as glucometer, pressure machine etc and special hospital packages were another attractive highlight of the three day event. Besides, some stalls offered learning competitions and first-hand healthy culinary lessons.

Asaduzzaman Noor, Member of Parliament, inaugurated the fair.

He said, “The idea of organising a diabetes fair is brand-new. I appreciate the effort to make people’s lives convenient by teaching them important aspects of diabetes in ways which are exceptional yet easy to understand.”

Professor AK Azad Khan, Secretary General of Bangladesh Diabetic Association; Professor Hajera Mahtab, Professor Emeritus and Matiur Rahman, Editor, Daily Prothom Alo, attended the inaugural ceremony among others.

Professor AK Azad Khan, said, “Due to people’s undisciplined lifestyle and eating habit, diabetes has become epidemic. Bangladesh now stands 9th in having the most number of diabetes patients. It is possible to reduce its spread if people are made aware and live a disciplined life.”
