SriLankan Airlines restarts flights to Pakistan

Dhaka: SriLankan Airlines’ first flight to Pakistan took off on June 1 since air travel between the two countries resumed; ending a 3 month long suspension after Pakistan closed its airspace.

The flight departed from Sri Lanka’s Katunayake International Airport at 12:20 am and reached Pakistan’s commercial capital Karachi at 3.10 PM.

The return flight from Karachi was scheduled at 4.10 PM.

A spokesperson from SriLankan Airlines said that it is operating flights to Pakistan on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.

Following the recent escalation in violence between Pakistan and India, Pakistan government temporarily closed its airspace on February 27.
