Chairman of CAAB receives ICAO flag at 56th DGCA Conference in Nepal

Bangladesh to host next one in Dhaka

Dhaka: Bangladesh will host the 57th Director General Civil Aviation Conference which will be held in Dhaka in 2020.

The announcement follows the 56th DGCA Conference held on August 19-24 in Kathmandu, Nepal where Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Chairman of Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh received the ICAO flag from Rajan Phokhrel, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal on the closing day.

The Chairman of CAAB accepted the flag for the next one year.

In this regard, a video clip was shown during the 56th conference in Nepal and a stall was placed decorated with Bangladeshi products to promote the country's aviation activities vastly appreciated by ICAO and the delegations present.

Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman led the Bangladesh delegation which attended the 56th DGCA Conference of Asia Pacific (APAC) region.

KP Sharma Oli, Prime Minister of Nepal inaugurated the conference. Yogesh Bhattarai, Minister for Tourism of Nepal, Olimuniya Bernard Oli, President of ICAO Council and Arun Mishra, Regional Director of ICAO were also present on the occasion.

Rajan Phokhrel, Director General of Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal was elected the Chairman of the 56th DGCA Conference while Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Chairman of CAAB was elected the Vice-Chairman.

400 delegations including Chief Executives of Civil Aviation Authorities of 37 APAC States along with representatives from State Civil Aviation Ministry, International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO), Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), International Air Transport Association (IATA), EU Civil Company, aircraft and parts manufacture companies and several airlines attended the conference.

During the 5 days conference, 61 Discussions Paper (DP) and 63 Information Paper (IP) on Asia Pacific's aviation activities were consulted. Among which, Bangladesh submitted 3 DPs and 6 IPs which were accepted by the DGCA's of the conference.
