Indigo flight makes emergency landing after engine catches fire

Dhaka: An IndiGo flight flying from Goa to Delhi was forced to turn around and make an emergency landing at Dabolim International Airport today after one of its engines caught fire.

The flight was also carrying Nilesh Cabral, Environment Minister of the State.

The left engine caught fire fifteen minutes after the aircraft was airborne at 1 am, said Cabral.

"The pilot immediately shut off the left engine and flew us back to Goa," said the minister who was heading to the national capital for an official meeting.

There were around 180 passengers in the aircraft at the time the incident occurred, Cabral also said. There has been no report of any casualty.
