Biman's sixth Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner Awchin Pakhi arrives in Dhaka on December 24
Dhaka: The sixth Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner of Biman Bangladesh Airlines landed in Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on December 24 at 8:19 pm. The new Dreamliner named Awchin Pakhi was welcomed by a water canon salute.
Md Mokabbir Hossain, Managing Director and CEO of Biman received the aircraft at the airport. Other high officials of the flag carrier, airport and civil aviation authority were also present on the occasion.
The expansion of Biman’s fleet follows the announcement made by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina in September to purchase two new Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners. Among which, the former Dreamliner named Sonar Tori landed in Dhaka on December 21 and the latter Awchin Pakhi arrived on December 24.
With this new addition, the number of aircraft in Biman’s fleet has increased to 18.
Awchin Pakhi has 298 seat capacity, 30 in Business Class, 21 in Premium Economy and 247 in Economy. 24 seats in the Business Class offer 180 degree reclined and flatbed facility allowing passengers to have more comfort during their travel.
