Dhaka: The second edition of Banglalink SDG Hackathon “Code for a Cause”, an initiative aimed at encouraging youth to come up with innovative solutions to SDG (Sustainable Development Goals) challenges, was held at the cellular service provider’s head office in the city recently.
Team Quirkybits, Team BeNotX and Team Arial X were announced as the top three teams for presenting their innovative digital ideas on chatbot-based legal services for women, digital learning for kids and drone-based planting systems, respectively.
Taimur Rahman, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer, Muniruzzaman Sheikh, Chief Ethics and Compliance Officer and other high officials of Banglalink were present on the occasion.
Taimur Rahman, Chief Corporate and Regulatory Affairs Officer, Banglalink said, “The innovative digital ideas devised by the participants at the hackathon reflect their new approaches to addressing those problems. We will strive to empower such promising Bangladeshi youngsters as we believe that their fresh ideas can contribute significantly to our endeavour to drive socio-economic progress through digital initiatives.”
Interested candidates participated in Banglalink SDG Hackathon through online submissions. Based on the merits of their submitted ideas, a total of 25 teams, consisting of 3 members each, were selected and invited to the hackathon to devise and pitch digital ideas on solving SDG problems related to decent work, quality education, climate action and gender equality.
