China Harbour stands beside COVID-19-hit poor people of Mirsarai

Dhaka: China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC), an international company of China, donated food and COVID-19 prevention stuff for the poor families of Mirsarai Upazila of Chattogram badly hit by the economic downturn caused by COVID-19 pandemic.

The lot comprises 5 tonnes of rice; flour, potato and lentils, 1 ton each; 1,000 liters of cooking oil, 1,000 pieces of soap and 5,000 pieces surgical masks.

Wan Yanchao, Project Manager of China Harbour handed over the food and coronavirus prevention stuff to Ruhul Amin, Upazila Nirbahi Officer and Md Jasim Uddin, Chairman, Mirsarai Upazila at Upazila Parishad Office today. Md. Shahed Ramjan, Co-ordinator Manager of China Harbour was also present on the occasion.

Fu Xiuquan, Managing Director, CHEC Bangladesh said, "We believe that it is our moral and social responsibility to help those poor families who are the worst sufferers of the corona crisis. This small gesture is a symbol of our commitment to the community where we are working in. We hope to continue our support to the friendly Bangladeshi people in case of any necessity."

CHEC has been operating in Bangladesh for the last 30 years. Presently, it has some ongoing projects in the country including a number at Mirsarai Economic Zone and in Chattogram region.
