Dhaka: State-owned Thai Airways is rewarding up to three million free miles to its frequent flyers in its latest promotional campaign but with a caveat – they have to stay at home.
The campaign, created by Wunderman Thompson, wants to encourage the airline members to stay at home during the coronavirus pandemic. Meanwhile, the airline hopes to take the downtime to plan for their travel beyond COVID-19.
“Thai Airways wishes to stand by the side of all the people in Thailand during this difficult time by urging them to practice social distancing at home to stop infection for the nation, and also allow all citizens to collect mileage points to use after the crisis ends,” said Wiwat Piyawiroj, Executive Vice President, Commercial, Thai Airways.
To be a part of the campaign, members with active frequent flyer membership (Royal Orchid Plus) with Thai Airways need to download the Stay Home Miles Exchange app on their device. The app uses geolocation technology to determine if the user stays home.
As the airline industry has been hit hard by COVID-19, Thai Airways hopes this campaign will help it remain relevant and do its part to prevent the spread of the virus.
