CAPSCA member states should take all-out measures to tackle COVID-19

Dhaka: All member states of CAPSCA should come together and take all-out measures to save the global aviation industry from the crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic.
Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Chairman of CAAB and Chairperson of CAPSCA said this during a video conference today organised by the Asia Pacific regional office of CAPSCA, affiliated with ICAO, in Bangkok.
The purpose of the conference was to discuss how the global aviation industry can overcome the coronavirus pandemic and what should be the following measures for recovery in the post COVID-19 era.
Arun Mishra, Regional Director - Asia Pacific, ICAO delivered the welcome speech at the 3.5 hour long video conference while Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman, Chairman of CAAB and Chairperson of CAPSCA delivered the inaugural speech.
In his speech, Rahman mentioned several initiatives which the government and CAAB have taken so far to curb the coronavirus spread.
It may be mentioned here that Rahman has been elected as the Chairperson of CAPSCA by the member states for the next three years.
Dr Ansa Jordaan, Chief of Aviation Medicine Section, ICAO and Global Programme Manager, CAPSCA also spoke at the conference from the organisation's headquarter in Montreal.
She presented the Public Health Corridor Concept of ICAO in details. It included how those offering aviation services can protect themselves from COVID-19 while ensuring healthy services to the passengers.
Moreover, representatives of WHO, IATA and ACI also delivered speeches and highlighted steps to prevent the spread of the coronavirus to save the global aviation community.
Furthermore, the aviation authorities of China, Japan, Singapore and South Korea described their initiatives and plans to resume flight operations.
Air Vice Marshal M Mafidur Rahman also delivered the closing speech in which he urged all to work together in compliance with WHO and ICAO's directives during this virus outbreak.
The conference was attended by 23 member states of CAPSCA along with representatives from WHO, ICAO and many other organisations.
Brig Gen (rtd) Md Abdur Rab Miya, Co-Chairperson, CAPSCA and Aviation Public Health Inspector; Air Commodore Md Khalid Hossain, Member - Management and Planning; Md Shahiduzzaman Faruqi, Member - Security; Group Captain Chowdhury Md Ziaul Kabir, Member - Flight Standard and Regulations; Group Captain AHM Tauhid-ul-Ahsan, Director, HSIA; Group Captain Imranur Rahman, Director - Flight Standard, Regulations and Internal Affairs; Dr Shahriar Sazzad, Health Officer, Airport branch, Health Department and many other officials from CAAB were also present on the occasion.
