Dhaka: Qatar Airways has announced that it is expanding its services to the United States. Following its resumption of New York flights soon, from July 1, Boston, Los Angeles, and Washington DC will join the airline’s existing Chicago and Dallas operations as it gradually rebuilds its network.
This move will allow the flag carrier of Qatar to operate 39 weekly flights to six gateways in the US. Additionally, these services will connect on to hundreds of the nation’s destinations through the firm’s partnerships with American Airlines and JetBlue.
This expansion is part of the state-owned carrier’s rebuild plan. It is resuming internationally with over 170 weekly flights to more than 40 destinations. These operations include flight resumptions to six of Qatar Airways’ 10 US gateways.
The airline is going to resume flights to New York three times a week on June 19.
With this New York resumption, other key cities such as Boston, Los Angeles, and Washington DC will see Qatar Airways liveries at their airports by the time next month starts. The United States is beginning to open up its economy following lockdown measures slowly.
Akbar Al Baker, CEO of Qatar Airways shared how his airline has been assisting those in need during the sensitive time. US authorities have been recognising the group’s efforts over the last few months.
“Since the pandemic outbreak, at Qatar Airways we have been completely focused at fulfilling our mission to bring people home. We worked closely with governments around the world to ensure their stranded citizens could travel home safely and our repatriation efforts were widely recognised and applauded,” Al Baker said, as per the press release.
