Dhaka: The Government of the United Arab Emirates has granted permission for Bangladeshi nationals who have UAE residence visa to travel/return to the UAE.
The Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Dhaka issued a notice in this regard on June 15 to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh.
In the notice, the Embassy requested the country's support to secure the necessary approvals from the concerned authorities to allow the facilitation for their travel who have been granted permission to return to the UAE.
In March, the UAE closed its borders to everyone but returning Emiratis, in a move to contain the spread of the coronavirus.
As a result, more than 200,000 residents who were abroad at the time became stuck in different countries.
Now, the UAE is in the process of bringing those people back with safety measures in place to avoid the risk of a second wave of COVID-19.
Anyone who is currently abroad must apply for permission to return to the Emirates via the Federal Authority for Citizenship and Identity website: https://smartservices.ica.gov.ae/echannels/web/client/default.html#/login.
Applicants can only book their flight tickets after receiving approval from authorities.
