China Harbour provides Khulna's COVID-affected poor people with relief materials

Dhaka: China Harbour Engineering Company Ltd (CHEC) provided relief materials for distribution among 2,000 poor families in Khulna City Corporation area, who are badly affected by COVID pandemic. Relief materials include rice, lentil, potato, salt and soap.

Talukder Abdul Khaleque, Mayor of Khulna City Corporation received the relief materials from Md Shahed Ramjan, Chief Coordinator of CHEC Bangladesh, at the former’s office on July 7.

“The pandemic has badly hit the national economy, while low earning groups are the worst affected. Since beginning of the pandemic we have been trying to support the poor people in different areas of Bangladesh. It is a part of our corporate social responsibility programme, which we hope to continue in the days ahead”, said Shahed Ramjan.

Earlier the company donated medical items to the Bangladesh government, foodstuffs and corona protection gears to poor people in different areas including Mirsarai and Anowara Upazilas in Chattogram, Madaripur, Tangail and Bramhanbaria.

CHEC has successfully completed the Khulna Water Treatment Plant Project under Khulna WASA. During the project implementation the company undertook several social programmes, committed to improve the quality of life and health of the city corporation residents.
