HSIA expansion CAAB signs deals with four firms

Dhaka: Civil Aviation Authority of Bangladesh (CAAB) signed an agreement with four consulting firms, for the expansion of Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport (HSIA), on June 11.

The cost of the expansion project, which has been estimated at Tk 136.10 billion, would be funded by Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for which another agreement is expected to be signed on 21 this month.

The cost of consultancy service is Tk 5.70 billion, which will be provided from the JICA fund. The government share of the HSIA expansion project is Tk 25 billion.

Air Vice Marshal Ehsanul Gani Chowdhury, Chairman, CAAB, and Haruhiko Kanai, Acting Director General, Nippon Koei Co Ltd (Japan), Jun Yamauchi, General Manager (Airport Department), Oriental Consultants Global Co Ltd, Rohani Binte Baharin, Executive Vice-President CPG Consultants Pte Ltd and AKM Rafiquddin Managing Director, Development Design Consultants Ltd signed the agreement on behalf of their respective organisations at the CAAB office in the city on the day.

Rashed Khan Menon, minister for Civil Aviation and Tourism, was present at the signing ceremony.
