DHAKA: India’s Jet Airways and U.S. major, American Airlines, this week announced the cancellation of their partnership, following last week’s unconfirmed news that Delta Air Lines is interested in acquiring up to 24% of the Mumbai-based airline.
“December 31, 2017 is the last day to fly and earn miles on Jet Airways. All award travel must be booked and ticketed by that date. Travel is valid for one year after ticket date, but must be flown by December 31, 2018. You won’t be able to make changes to any Jet segments after 2017,” American announced this week.
American frequent flyers can earn and redeem miles for travel on Jet Airways domestic flights and between India and Asia, Europe and the U.S. American does not have any other partners in India, which suggested Jet made the decision to terminate the partnership.
Does this mean that Delta could acquire 24% of Jet? And that Jet also could join SkyTeam?
