3-day Int’l tourism fair begins in the capital on March 30

Dhaka: A three-day international tourism fair titled “US-Bangla-Monitor Dhaka Travel Mart (DTM) 2017” will be held at Ballroom of the Pan Pacific Sonargaon hotel, Dhaka from March 30. The fourteenth version of the DTM is being organised by The Bangladesh Monitor, premier travel and tourism English fortnightly of the country. The leading private airline US-Bangla Airlines joins the event as the Title Sponsor.

Kazi Wahidul Alam, Editor, The Bangladesh Monitor, formally announced hosting of the DTM 2017 at a press conference held at a city hotel on February 4.

Akhtaruz Zaman Khan Kabir, Chief Executive Officer, Bangladesh Tourism Board (BTB) and Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun, Managing Director, US-Bangla Airlines addressed the press conference, among others.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on the title sponsorship of DTM 2017 was signed between The Bangladesh Monitor and US-Bangla Airlines at the beginning of the press conference. Senior officials from both the organisations were present on the occasion.

“Dhaka Travel Mart, over the years, has been able to establish itself as a platform of interaction and mutual cooperation among the stakeholders of the tourism sector from home and abroad. At the same time the fair provides opportunity for tourism lovers to choose their required products and services available under single roof”, said Kazi Wahidul Alam.

National tourism organisations (NTO), airlines, tour operators, hotels, resorts, financial institutions and others involved in the travel and tourism sector will showcase their products and services at 68 stalls and 5 pavilions during the DTM 2017. As before, the participating organisations will offer attractive packages and discounts for the visitors during the three-day fair. On side line of the Fair, The Bangladesh Monitor will hold a seminar on the Prospect of Halal Tourism in Bangladesh, which represents 11.6 percent of global tourism expenditures and is predicted to worth US$ 238 billion by 2019.

Speaking on the occasion US-Bangla Airlines’ Managing Director Mohammad Abdullah Al Mamun informed that the Airline within less than three years of its existence has gone into international operations and currently is flying to Kolkata, Kuala Lumpur and Muscat. Shortly the Airline will extend its network to Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

Akhteruzzaman Khan Kabir, CEO of Bangladesh Tourism Board informed that the Board has already taken initiatives to develop Adventure tourism and Halal Tourism in the country and efforts are underway to identify the products for further development and promotion.
