French envoy savours Chattogram's famed cuisine, celebrates shared love of gastronomy with Bangladesh


Dhaka: French Ambassador to Bangladesh Jean-Marc Séré-Charlet sampled Chattogram's renowned culinary heritage during a visit to the port city, highlighting the shared appreciation of gastronomy between France and Bangladesh.
In an official social media post on July 5, the Embassy of France in Bangladesh said the ambassador enjoyed an array of authentic local dishes, including the city's iconic Mezban cuisine and traditional sweets.
"A taste of Chattogram!" the embassy wrote, adding that the envoy was delighted to experience the city's rich food culture and warm hospitality.
The embassy noted that Ambassador Séré-Charlet "thoroughly enjoyed the authentic local delicacies and the warm hospitality that make Chattogram so special."
Drawing a cultural connection between the two countries, the mission said France and Bangladesh have many things in common, "including a shared love for gastronomy."
The visit showcased Chattogram's rich culinary traditions, with Mezban—a signature spicy beef dish served at community feasts—widely regarded as one of Bangladesh's most distinctive regional cuisines.
The embassy's post comes as France and Bangladesh continue to strengthen cultural ties through exchanges in art, cuisine, and heritage, alongside their broader diplomatic and economic cooperation.
