Emirates SkyCargo introduces Boeing 777-300ER Converted Freighter

Dubai: Emirates SkyCargo has expanded its fleet with the addition of A6-EBK, a Boeing 777-300ERSF (Passenger-to-Freighter), further strengthening its cargo capacity amid rising global demand for air freight, particularly driven by cross-border e-commerce. The aircraft has already entered commercial service, transporting cargo through Emirates’ global hub in Dubai.
Unlike factory-built freighters, A6-EBK has been converted from an Emirates Boeing 777-300ER passenger aircraft. The extensive conversion included modifications to the fuselage, reinforced floor structure, cargo loading systems, avionics, environmental controls, and safety systems to meet international freighter standards.

A key enhancement is the installation of a large main-deck cargo door and a strengthened 9G rigid barrier to safely secure cargo during flight. The flight deck was also upgraded with additional controls for cargo-specific environmental and safety management. A powered cargo loading system with rollers, locks, and guides enables efficient handling of large freight pallets.
The converted freighter is capable of transporting a wide range of specialized cargo, including temperature-sensitive pharmaceuticals, life-saving medicines, and bio-innovation materials, with precise temperature control to maintain product integrity throughout the journey.
Before entering service, the aircraft underwent rigorous regulatory certification, including structural, safety, fire protection, systems reliability, and flight performance evaluations. It also received Emirates SkyCargo’s latest livery before commencing commercial operations.
Emirates SkyCargo currently serves more than 150 destinations across six continents, supporting global trade with one of the industry's fastest-growing freighter networks.
