Dubai airports roll out 7-second bag scanners amid summer rush

Dhaka: Dubai Customs has ramped up preparations for the peak summer travel season, introducing a set of measures designed to speed up passenger processing and ensure smoother journeys through the emirate's airports.
With three million passengers expected to pass through Dubai Airports in the first half of July, the emirate is currently experiencing one of its busiest travel periods, as residents head overseas for summer holidays.
To manage the surge, Dubai Customs said it has upgraded its inspection systems with advanced technology, allowing baggage to clear screening in just seven seconds. The authority operates 19 advanced baggage-screening systems and 77 detection and inspection systems across the halls and terminals of Dubai's airports.
As part of its readiness plan, the authority has also set up dedicated animal inspection rooms at Terminals 1, 2, and 3. These fully equipped facilities are designed to enable efficient veterinary checks while maintaining customs security, cutting passenger waiting times and ensuring smooth travel.
Dubai Customs also reminded passengers to consult its Traveller Guide, which outlines items permitted for entry into the UAE, customs exemption conditions, and other travel-related requirements.
Additionally, the authority noted that travelers can bring gifts into the country duty-free up to a value of AED 3,000, provided they meet the applicable customs regulations.
Dubai Customs said the latest measures form part of its broader effort to enhance passenger services while upholding high standards of security and facilitating seamless travel during the busy summer season.
