US Embassy warns visa applicants against omitting social media info

Dhaka: The U.S. Embassy in Dhaka has reminded visa applicants that they must disclose all social media usernames or handles used over the past five years when completing the DS-160 non-immigrant visa application form, warning that failure to do so could result in visa denial.
In an official social media post on July 13, the embassy said applicants are required to list the usernames or handles of every social media platform they have used in the last five years.
The embassy also stressed that applicants certify the accuracy of the information provided in their visa application before signing and submitting the DS-160 form.
"Omitting social media information could lead to visa denial and ineligibility for future visas," the embassy said.
The reminder comes as the United States continues to require social media disclosure as part of its visa vetting process, with consular officers reviewing information provided by applicants during the adjudication of visa applications.
